Volunteers Work Alongside Homeowners on Cudjoe Key

On Saturday, May 21 and Saturday, May 28 volunteers from all walks of life in the Lower Keys community came out to work alongside Habitat Homebuyer families at the Moss Landing development on Cudjoe Key. Volunteers participated in various tasks, including: Painting Interior Walls, Painting Exterior Columns, Staining & Sealing Decks & Stairs, Lattice Installation, Clearing Debris & Landscaping.

A hot lunch was prepared and provided for the group each build day by Deborah, a Moss Landing homeowner. During these 2 build days, volunteers and Habitat’s Construction staff were able to nearly complete work on 4 homes in Moss Landing. These properties will be purchased in June by local families, and the new homeowners will begin to move in shortly thereafter.

Volunteers play a crucial role in the structure of Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, enabling us to build homes that we sell at affordable rates with 0% interest mortgages to local families. Habitat volunteers are a driving force and a leading voice in promoting the cause of adequate, affordable housing. Our volunteers are our partners in enabling community transformation and working to make our vision — a world in which everyone has a decent affordable place to live — a reality.
